Bienvenido Tantoco 3rd, chairman of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Philippines (TOYM), looks back at the prestigious award and its standing in the greatest health crisis current civilization has ever known.
Donny, as he is easily known, president of the Rustan Commercial Corp. and the eldest child of iconic retail pioneers Gleceria and Benny Tantoco Jr. recalls: “I succeeded Manuel V. Pangilinan as TOYM in 2019, with Chaye Revilla and Noel Bonoan becoming president and vice chairman, respectively. However, even before the Covid-19 pandemic, we felt that the organization should do more than just handle the search for winners year after year.”
