PRA members were among the awardees at the Gawad Yamang Isip, organized by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines last April 26, 2019.
The Generics Pharmacy (TGP) and Ms. Beatriz “Patis” Tesoro of Tesoro’s were awarded for their use of the intellectual property system to contribute to science and art.
Tesoro received the Yamang Isip Award for Kagamitan at Moda category. A legend in the Philippine fashion scene, Tesoro was awarded for her long-standing advocacy to elevate local fabrics (particularly the piña cloth) to the global stage and mainstream traditional Filipino garb to contemporary fashion.
TGP on the other hand, won under the Yamang Isip Award for Negosyo category for being a champion of accessibility of affordable medicine, while deftly using trademark as a strategic business tool.
