The Philippine Retailers Association’s 40th anniversary publication ‘Legends, Lives, & Legacies’ received the sought-after Gold Anvil Award at the recent 54th Anvil Awards.

The Gold Anvil is given to public relations programs and tools that meet the highest standards in their respective categories.

The coffee table book ‘Legends, Lives, & Legacies’ celebrates and commemorates the 40th Anniversary of PRA featuring the history of the PRA, milestones in the retail industry and the inspiring stories of success of the 12 pillars of the Philippine Retail—the PRA’s President’s Awardees.

It was conceptualized by PRA vice chairmen Jojo Mendiola and Mars Chua, in time for the PRA’s 40th anniversary and was launched in February last year in a special gathering of the awardees featured in the publication.

Featured in the book are stories and profiles of the Philippines’ icons of retailing — Mr. Henry Sy Sr. (Father of Philippine Retailing), Mr. Fernando Zobel de Ayala (Pillar of Philippine Retail Development), Mr. Jorge Araneta (Pioneer of Philippine Retail Entertainment), Ms. Socorro Ramos (Matriarch of Philippine Retailing), Mr. John Gokongwei Jr. (Champion of Retail Entrepreneurship), Amb. Bienvenido Tantoco (Father of Luxury Retailing), Mr. Mariano Que (Father of Health and Wellness Retailing), Samie Lim (Pioneering Pillar of Franchising), Teresita Sy-Coson (Philippine Retailing’s Woman Visionary Leader), Andrew Tan (Pillar of Mixed-Use Developments), Lucio Co (Patron of Micro-retail Entrepreneurship), and William Belo (Patriarch of Home Building Retail).

The PRA leaders received the award last January 30 at the Marriot Grand Ballroom, led by PRA President Rosemarie Ong, Chairman Atty. Paul Santos, Vice Chairmen Mars Chua and Lorenzo Formoso, and Secretary General Evelyn Balmeo-Salire.
