The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) took home two trophies at the ANG SUSI Awards last November 25, 2020 for the Industry Development Award and Association Executive of the Year Award.

22 years of legacy

The OFR Awards, which has been running for 22 years, recognizes Filipino Retailers who have epitomized the model of a successful retailer in terms of growth, creativity, and best business practices. It also distinguishes exceptional local retailers who exemplify ingenuity that makes their business stand out in the ever-dynamic retail industry.

The award is a collaboration between the PRA and the Department of Trade and Industry, meant to empower local retailers and promote continued growth in the retail industry. Since its inception, over 600 retailers and shopping centers have been honored through the OFR Awards.

In 2019, the OFR Awards continued the legacy and prestige by rebranding and streamlining the categories to keep up in the modern times.

Contributing to growth

On the other hand, Asec. Miranda was named the Association Executive of the Year for her outstanding contribution to the growth and success of the PRA various programs and advocacies.

Asec. Miranda joined the PRA as Assistant Secretary General in 2014, and to broaden her knowledge in association management, she attended the seminars conducted by the Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE) Academy for professional training and career development.  She was among the first batch of graduates of the Certified Professional Association’s Executive (CPAE) back in 2016.

Asec. Miranda and PRA Advocacy and Communications Officer Mayan, Sangil who led the OFR Awards in 2019 received the awards in virtual awarding that coincides with the PCAAE 8th Association Summit.

PRA–home to outstanding leaders and projects

The PRA now has two Association Executive awardees at its helm — with Ms. Evelyn Salire, as the first awardee, and three Board Executive awardees former presidents Atty. Paul Santos, Lorenzo Formoso, and Ma. Alegria “Bing” Limjoco.

PRA projects such as Regional Roadshow, National Retail Conference and Expo, NRCE Chatbot, and Retail Executive Circle were also winners in the previous years since 2016.

ANG SUSI Awards or “Associations nurture National Growth through Social Unity and Sustainability Innovations” is the first and only search for the best associations and association executives in the Philippines which recognizes the association sector’s contributions to national sustainable development.
