PHL e-commerce to grow fourfold by 2025 —Lazada

As more and more Filipinos go online the shop, the e-commerce market could grow fourfold in the next five years, according to e-commerce giant Lazada.

Lazada Philippines country chief marketing officer Neil Trinidad said the e-commerce sector is seen growing fourfold to $12 billion by 2025 from $3 billion this year and $500 million in 2015, as data from Google Temasek Report say.

Trinidad said this is likely ot happen as 92% of Filipinos are shopping online.

“Filipinos are one of the most engaged users around the world … That’s why e-commerce in the Philippines is now entering its tipping point,” he added.

At the first hour of the 11.11 sale alone, Trinidad noted that Lazada saw one million shoppers already. The e-commerce platform sold 13 million diapers.

He added that the highest spent of a shopper reached P1.2 million during the 11.11 sale.
