Korean retailers move to capitalise on ‘petfam’ trend

As more Koreans become drawn to their pets, which a lot consider as part of their family, many retailers are also keen on targeting their marketing campaigns towards the particular demographic.

Lotte Home Shopping has recently launched a mobile live broadcast “hosted” by dogs to reach out to petfam target audience.

Local hypermarket chain Homeplus on the other hand released petcare tips on their Youtube channel.

According to a Korea Bizwire report, pet care market in the country is estimated at US$1.57 billion as of April 2019, which marks a growth of 5.4%.
