Harrison Plaza closes shop after more than four decades

Before the year turned anew, the first one-stop shopping mall in Manila — Harrison Plaza, ceased operations after 43 years.

The 75,000 square meter area, where the old shopping complex stands will be taken over by SM Prime Holdings, which will redevelop it into a mixed-use development, comprising several residential towers and a world class mall, similar to the Podium.

Harrison Plaza was opened in 1976, was able to withstand highs and lows in the four decades of its operations including a fire in the 80’s.

Tenants were given until January 31, 2020 to clear the area.
