Construction has commenced on a new Davao mall, scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2018.

Developer New City Commercial Corp held a groundbreaking ceremony this week at the site of the mall on Tigatto-Mandug Rd in Buhangin.

The mall will comprise four storeys with 8700 sqm in all, as well as basement parking. It will include a cinema, some 85 retail shops ranging from local brands to “high-end” international labels and a rooftop garden.

The complex has been designed by Asya Designs, Manila-based architects which worked on SM Mall of Asia and City of Dreams.

To be built at a cost approaching P1 billion for LTS Malls, it will be positioned as an “aspirational but affordable” destination for Dabawenyo shoppers.

NCCC president Sharlene Faye Lim told a press conference that the mall will be anchored by an NCCC supermarket and department store.

“Yes, it will be more modern but we will not eliminate the affordability value that we are known and loved for,” said Lim.

Althea Lucas, associate VP of LTS Mall added that the company’s expansion in Buhangin is aimed at meeting the needs of consumers in the city’s northern suburbs.

“The area (of expansion) is highly residential, huge potential of the market is there. So we decided to bring the NCCC experience closer to the north,” she said.

New brands to Davao will be included in the centre.
