I. MODULE DESCRIPTION:

This competency-based training module for retailers focuses on identifying the causes of retail loss and strengthening security measures against the threats and risks of shrinkage cases related to shoplifting, employees’ theft, inventory errors and vendors’ fraud. With the absence of appropriate intervention and prudence from management this will result in significant business losses and interruptions especially in the business where margin is low and competition is fierce – retail.

It is further the intent of this module to define the security management from the context of retail security which is the efficient use of resources and effective implementation of security processes related to people, property, information, money and negotiable instrument and continued patronage of the customer.

This is not designed to change everything but rather to validate, reinforce and strengthen the prior learning experience and the level of competency of participants in retail security management.

II. MODULE OUTLINE:

– Understanding the four causes of shrinkage that challenges the retail business.

– Applying cost-effective preventative and counter-measures to challenge the threats and risks of shrinkages cases.

– Determining the traditional and contemporary shrinkage methodologies that are capable to halt the productivity of the retail business.

– Conducting security investigation and audit when suspected shrinkage cases have occurred and or when management wanted to understand the state of operation in their organization.

– Ascertaining indicators of shrinkage cases in the retail business both from global and local perspective.

– Looking at some of the legal guides and considerations that would affect the business of retail in handling theft cases perpetrated by internal and external individuals.
