Global Japanese specialty retailer Uniqlo opened its newest store in Subic Freeport on June 16, bringing its various lines of quality clothing to customers from Olongapo City and the nearby provinces of Zambales and Bataan.
The Uniqlo store, located at the ground floor of the Ayala Harbor Point Mall, covered almost a block of retail space and opened with a special offering of the brand’s 2017 spring and summer collection.
Among those who graced the opening was Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Administrator Wilma Eisma, who tried on some hats at the store’s Work Smart collection.
Katsumi Kubota,COO of Uniqlo Philippines, said the opening of the Uniqlo store here is part of the company’s program to expand its reach to the northern part of Luzon.
“We at Uniqlo are thrilled to open yet another store in Harbor Point Mall. We are looking forward to bringing our high-quality and innovative LifeWear pieces closer to more Filipinos,” he said.
Kubota, who aims to make Uniqlo the No. 1 clothing brand in the Philippines, added that the firm’s Subic store will offer a full range of LifeWear essentials for men, women and children, including babies.
Uniqlo, Japan’s largest specialty retailer, is known for its innovative LifeWear designs developed from the Japanese values of simplicity, quality and longevity.
The firm’s Subic offerings include Uniqlo shirts, pants and dresses, as well as proprietary clothing-technology products such as AIRism, which uses cooling and quick-drying technology; HeatTech, which keeps the wearer warm; and Uniqlo Sport, which incorporates sportswear features into everyday apparel.
Uniqlo Harbor Point Store Manager Jude Torres said that, aside from the full range of LifeWear items, the store provided special offers from June 16 to June 22 on a wide range of men’s, women’s, kids and babies’ collections to celebrate the store opening.
Uniqlo, which opened its first store in the Philippines five years ago, is currently opening large-scale stores in some of the world’s most important cities. It has 1,800 stores in 18 markets worldwide.
The globally recognized brand is part of the global Japanese retail holding company Fast Retailing Co. Ltd., which designs, manufactures and sells clothing under seven major brands, with global sales of about $17.31 billion in 2016.
