The Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) conducted its second leg of Retail Executive Circle (RetailRex) Breakfast Meeting to give latest insights and updates to supermarket and FMCG business owners on September 19 at Joy-Nostalg Hotel and Suites, Ortigas Center.
The quarterly and exclusive gathering was attended by about 25 CEOs, Presidents and top level managers of retail companies.
IGD Programme Director Shirley Zhu shared some case studies of the latest innovations and strategies in supermarket and FMCG sector around Asia.
Aside from incorporating more digital innovations and utilizing online and offline channels to reach out to more customers, she also shared that new concepts and strategies anchored on convenience, fresh food, and healthy lifestyle have found their way in the supermarket industry as answer to current consumer behavior and lifestyle.
She also said that physical stores will continue to grow but in different format and with e-commerce as partner.
Symphony Retail APJ Regional President Oscar Garcia-Velasco on the other hand, shared how shopping is changing based on trends and competitive pressures.
He also discussed the importance of the data, and how it can be a retailer’s weapon. He also shared different ways how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used in different aspects of the retailing business—including market research, efficient shop curation, and targeted promotions.
